Artocarpus integrifolia lectin (Jacalin, AIA) is a glycoprotein composed of two subunits (10kD, 16kD) which bind to O-glycoside-linked oligosaccharides, binding both the mono- and di-sialylated forms.

Activity:
< 0.5ug/ml will agglutinate neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes.

Inhibitory Carbohydrate:
alpha-galactose

Carbohydrate Specificity:
alpha-galactose. Primary affinity for terminal alpha-galactose residues and T-antigen which has a terminal b-galactose residue. It does not bind to beta-galactose structures as found in lactose.

Storage and Stability:
Store product at 4°C. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
